Dr Paramabandhu Groves discusses how his interest in Buddhism and mindfulness developed. He explores in depth how some of its concepts can be used by clinicians to understand human suffering and also how to reduce and heal it. He also gives an overview of the extensive research assessing the effectiveness of mindfulness in supporting people with a range of mental health conditions, including psychosis.

Dr Paramabandhu Groves

Paramabandhu Groves, now retired, was for many years a consultant psychiatrist specializing in addiction psychiatry. He trained in medicine at Cambridge University and University College London. He was a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and a former chair of the College’s Spirituality and Psychiatry Special Interest Group. He has also trained and worked as a Core Process Psychotherapist. Paramabandhu was ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order in 1990.
