Women On The Couch

Women On The Couch

Ain’t I a Woman

The talk will be based on ways that the intersectionality of racism, sexism and misogyny can silence black women and women of colour in the therapeutic process. The voices of these women in crisis are often muted due to assumptions and stereotypes evolving from cultural, institutional and intergenerational influences. In the context of these oppressions I will address the need for therapists to be aware and facilitate these challenges and reclaim power.
