Dr Ruth Sewell

Dr Ruth Sewell is has been working with PNI, mostly in the field of cancer and palliative care for over 15 years. She was senior psychotherapist at the Bristol Cancer Help Centre (now Penny Brohn Cancer Care) between 2002 and 2008. Throughout this period she has been teaching both professionals and patients/clients the applied theory of PNI. She now works as an independent consultant in private psychotherapy practice, working generically but also specialising in clients with life reducing illness. She uses an integrated model of practice that applies the principles of PNI to therapeutic contents. Ruth's doctoral thesis deals with the emotional and spiritual challenges of women experiencing breast cancer. Her clinical approach draws on the knowledge of how the subtle links and communications that take place between, mind, emotions, body, and spirit can influence immune responses at the time of coping with illness and disease, and during the process of recovering health and well-being, and the establishment of a 'state of wholeness' even when death is approaching. This seminar will illustrate the application of PNI theory to applied psychotherapy practice.
